OK, I admit it – I LOVE ponies– who doesn’t ?

And once in a while, I actually get to work with one – however, I have never worked with one as smart, athletic AND gorgeous as The Man, aka Foxcry Nicodemus.

A friend of a friend approached me at 2006 Dressage at Devon to find out, if I’d like to show a 2 year old pony stallion in hand. The moment I walked into his stall, I was a goner. Nick turned his head, gave me a once over and went right back to munching on his hay. Self confidence is his middle name and when he steps into a show ring, it is evident to everyone there and evokes smiles from even the most intense competitor.

Standing a solid 12.1 hands (don’t laugh, he is proud of that extra inch), Nick is an exceptional mover and has held his own against a number of Warmbloods, both in-hand and under saddle. At 2008 Dressage at Devon, Nick placed 6th (out of 15)in Mature Stallions in hand, winning the American Pony class (and receiving a kiss from judge Janet Foy during the Award Cermony), as well as placing in all of his under saddle classes in the top 10 (Materiale, Stallions under saddle and Suitability).

In addition he covered 29 mares, all by natural cover (except for one) – his 2009 foals surpassed his owners expectations by winning/placing at major Huntershows , such as Devon and Upperville, as well as receiving huge scores at the ASPR foal inspections.

As of Dec. 1, 2009 Nick is owned by The Foxcry Nicodemus Syndicate and as his trainer/rider, I was allowed to become a member of this group of investors – thank goodness. It would have broken my heart to let that little monster go – please do not let him know – his ego is big enough already !
